Payme’s take on Riva Starr’s latest lemon packs some of the best hydraulic bass knock the PnT Rockit 6s have heard in months. Trim butters this beat with serious swagger and low riding flow rocking Dance Me A Dance on the up and down. Some sexy minimal blips and toms in there to round out the chunk as well… so heavy! Couldn’t find much (or rather any) info about this mystery producer, so if you know the deal speak up. Cop this along with the rest of the release in all it’s three hundred and twenty K glory here.
Riva Starr feat. Trim – Dance Me (Payme Remix) (128K)

“Only once the drugs are done. I feel like dying.” Such an eerie and bone chilling sample which is originally part of a Lil’ Wayne tune. With this new Dubstep re-work, Jesse Fex manages to heighten the dark and emotional undertones of the sample and wraps it all up with an infectious bassline. A local Toronto producer and DJ for many years, the last year or so has seen Jesse getting much more diverse with his production. With the creation of Normand Wellsley there has definitely been a strong focus on the Dubstep side of things. Check out the Jesse Fex Soundcloud page for more beats!

The RTK mix below reminded me of a little nugget I’ve been enjoying from the likes of Wareika. Out on the Fitness Funk release from Tartelet in December, Wareika’s come again cut Mountain Ride is gently cheesed with some light blues vocals that’ll keep the floor smiling and focused. The equation is as follows:
Balkan Horns + Two Note Bass Line + Drum Gallop + Acoustic Guitar + Blues Vox = Wareika – Mountain Ride (buy)

I did not see that vox coming… this is creativity.
Round Table Knights are getting ready to unleash their first EP on Made To Play February 15th. If this video is any indication, it’s going to be oodles of dancefloor devastation. They’ve also got a new winter mix on Fairtilizer.
Deadboy just annihilated last weeks mix for FACT mag… it’s an absolute must listen. Straight 2-step funk and soulful dubs for the wounded from start to finish. Some amazing new tracks and remixes on deck from him as well as upcoming cuts from Orbison and Bashmore. There’s even an impeccably placed guilty pleasure in the mix: Deadboy’s take on Cassie’s Official Girl.
DJ Lowcash just sent over this FIRIN’ new exclusive mixtape for the Plugged Not Thugged crew. Had the pleasure of seeing this cat grace the decks last week in Toronto and the man has crazy energy and got the crowd moving with his upbeat style of dubstep. Lowcash is lucky enough to know some of the big dogs over in U.K and as such has a few unreleased treats to unleash in this mix. My personal fav is the last track “Rockstar” by Benga which I’m hoping we’ll see released some time this year. Enjoy!
