Here is a beautiful piece of music that I had to share with all of you. Instra:mental has really dug themselves into a nice little sub-genre in the past few years with their minimal approach to drum and bass music. Al Bleek and Kid Drama are the highly acclaimed duo that have been testing the boundaries of drum and bass with a unique style that is unrestriced by tempo. Word on the street is that they are currently putting the finishing touches on a full length album that will be release in early 2010. Recently, Instra:mental teamed up with fellow UK producer dBridge to create the Autonomic Podcast series that has been getting ‘rave’ reviews by drum and bass enthusiasts worldwide. They also just had a release on the U.K label NonPlus+ Records that is just way too disgusting for words to describe:

I can’t get enough of this tune and I hope you enjoy it as well.

I can really appreciate when a producer has a very wide spectrum to their music. If you are putting out the same ’style’ or ’sound’ over and over things are bound to get stale. I don’t think I have ever come across someone who exemplifies this wide spectrum more than the U.K dubstep tandem, 16Bit. These guys have been on fire lately and have just dropped their new release “The Tale of The Exploding Fist” on the U.K label Southside Dubstars. Check out these two, completely different tunes from the release:
16Bit – Skyline

Hailing from the U.K, Drum and Bass superstar Sub Focus has just dropped his debut, full length, self titled album on Andy C’s RAM Records. Sub Focus has been known for some big Drum and Bass anthems like “X-Ray”, “Airplane” and “Time Warp” and more recently the smash hit “Rock It” which is featured on this LP. The new album pushes the boundaries of Drum and Bass and even has a Dubstep track included. I can’t get enough of the new tune “Last Jungle”. Below you can check out my top picks from the new LP:

There are so many amazing shows coming up as we close out 2009 with a bang. Here are the big ones you don’t want to miss!
Embrace presents Martyn (Oct.4th @ Wrongbar), Embrace presents Rusko (Oct.9th @ Mod Club), 40 hz presents Datsik (Oct.24th @ Suba), Embrace presents Caspa (Nov.1st @ Wrongbar), Embrace presents Bassnectar (Nov.26th @ Wrongbar), Embrace presents Joker & Nomad (Nov.29th @ Wrongbar).

Excision is the mastermind behind some of the darkest dubstep coming out at the moment. This young producer is repping Kelowna, B.C and his brainchild Rottun Recordings has been gaining a lot of steam lately with HUGE releases from the likes of Datsik and Tom Encore amongst others.
This mix was done for the 2009 Shambhala Music Festival in beautiful British Columbia where I heard Excision tore it up with the likes of Datsik, Benga, Bassnectar, Spor and Ewun (just to name a few). This festival has been getting better and better headliners each year and I will be looking forward to making the trip next summer!

Dubstep has arrived in this fine city of ours and there is one promotion company that is absolutely TRAIL BLAZING their way through the end of 2009. Embrace has gone ahead and booked some of the biggest dubstep dons in the game today and I am absolutely ecstatic for the next few months in Toronto!

Ungh. Better save up your pennies!
Here is an interesting pairing, Eve and Benga. I love how Benga re-worked this tune with a very catchy and funky beat.
Eve – Me N My (Benga Remix)
And staying on the remix tip, here are a couple other smashers you should already know about:
Kyza – Go (Bar 9 Remix)
Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden – Bonkers (Doorly Remix)
…and if that ‘aggressive’, ‘in your face’ style isn’t your cup of tea, then check out this amazing Burial Remix of Jamie Woon’s “Wayfaring Stranger”. Very atmospheric and chilled the fuck out. Love it.

Busy Signal continues to be the hottest artist in the Dancehall scene. He is on fiya right now with a couple blazin new tracks on the “Indiscretions Riddim” produced by Juke Boxx Productions. Indiscretions is really chill new riddim with a catchy guitar riff at the start which is blowing up the dance across the world. These two Busy tracks show the true versatility of this artist as everyone know: Busy can flow; fast or slow.

I’ve been really feeling the new reggae coming out this year and the Indiscretions Riddim is definitely one of the hottest riddims of 2009. It is packed full with the usual suspects who dominate the dancehall circuit as well as a couple up and coming artists. Here are some of the big cuts on the riddim!
Assassin – Stay Like Bees
Laden – Nuh Talk
Jah Cure – Searching
Peetah Heritage – Secrets
Richie Spice – Soothing Sound
Capleton – Acres
Konshens – Straight Forward
