Originally this post was supposed to celebrate Plugged Not Thugged’s two hundred and something odd days in the world of music bloggery, but I fell asleep for a couple of weeks and only woke up today. That and I really like all these tunes and I thought it time for another combination style post… so without further a due I offer you a variety of musical cheddars that vary from mild to aged.

This is a track off Floating Points‘ Vaccuum Boogie EP that just dropped on Eglo Records. According to his MySpace it was a long time coming, as the tracks were actually finished last February but it took until the end of August for the final wax transfer… I had no idea pressing a record could take so long. I’ve never had any serious penchant for deep house tunes, but after listening to the wonderful works of London’s Sam Sheperd, I can’t seem to get enough. Deeply deepstep… This man truly deserves the support of every listener because his work is astounding.
Hard House Banton – The Music (buy)

Wherever you’re sitting on the funky wave, after listening to a good amount of what’s gone on with this genre in the past little while, I’ve found this track really captivates some of my favorite vibes about the game: funky flavor, jackin’ roots, tribal feel. It’s off the b-side of Hard House’s heavy hitting Siren EP from 2008… the sweet and catchy vocal sample plays out nicely over many a tune.
LCD Soundsystem – 45:33 (Prins Language Remix) (buy)

Great long and drawn out take from Prins Language of LCD’s latest 45:33. Some great synth flavor from an LCD classic on here: Someone Great.
Alex Kenji – Tropical Chicks (buy)

Big room tech tune. Cuban flavored breakdown with a beautifully aggressive rhythm will keep this one in crates and playlists for months to come.
Kolombo – LOL (Kolombo Remix) (buy)

Don’t be fooled by the track name. This track is SINISTER in every sense of the word. A sinister bass line and even more sinister evil laugh dancing through until the very end. I First heard it in the great mix Renaissance Man did for Sixpack France which you should definitely check out if you haven’t already; it’s straight fire. Kolombo (aka Oliver Gregoire) hails from Namur, Belgium and has been in the game for close to a decade… makes a lot of sense after listening to this tune as the production here is just pristine.
