This Friday June 18th you can catch Chase & Status playing on the city’s best sound system in the main room of The Guvernment night club.  Destiny and TorontoJungle.com are again bringing in another huge headliner just 2 months after they drew around 2000 to the Andy C jam at Kool Haus.  For more information about the event including ticket info check it out HERE and HERE.  Check out the link below to download a relatively recent mix from the UK bad boys.  See you on the dance floor.

Instra:mental – Watching You

UncleSam_WatchingYou_750x900xxx

Here is a beautiful piece of music that I had to share with all of you. Instra:mental has really dug themselves into a nice little sub-genre in the past few years with their minimal approach to drum and bass music.  Al Bleek and Kid Drama are the highly acclaimed duo that have been testing the boundaries of drum and bass with a unique style that is unrestriced by tempo. Word on the street is that they are currently putting the finishing touches on a full length album that will be release in early 2010.  Recently, Instra:mental teamed up with fellow UK producer dBridge to create the Autonomic Podcast series that has been getting ‘rave’ reviews by drum and bass enthusiasts worldwide.  They also just had a release on the U.K label NonPlus+ Records that is just way too disgusting for words to describe:

I can’t get enough of this tune and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Sub Focus – Last Jungle

sub focus

Hailing from the U.K, Drum and Bass superstar Sub Focus has just dropped his debut, full length, self titled album on Andy C’s RAM Records.  Sub Focus has been known for some big Drum and Bass anthems like “X-Ray”, “Airplane” and “Time Warp” and more recently the smash hit “Rock It” which is featured on this LP.  The new album pushes the boundaries of Drum and Bass and even has a Dubstep track included.  I can’t get enough of the new tune “Last Jungle”.  Below you can check out my top picks from the new LP:

KWIKFINGAZ – ‘Birthday Mix 2008′

n512637271_155035_1340

Here is a mix from one of Toronto’s most under rated drum and bass dj’s…the one like KWIKFINGAZ.  I’ve had this mix runnin for a while now and after at least 10 listens I’m still not sick of it.  One of ‘those mixes’ so I thought I would big it up.  Serious mixing with some great tunes covering a wide spectrum of the genre.  Whether you’re chillin back blazing some tings or just cleaning up the crib on a sunday afternoon, this is a great mix to throw on full blast.

Evidence – I Say You Say (I Need You)

evidence2

Evidence (aka Brad McLaughlin) is originally from Sudbury but is now residing in Toronto. Versatility is the best word to describe this young up and coming producer.  Whether its drum and bass, dubstep, house/electro or even techno; Evidence always brings a fresh vibe with his production.  Keep an eye out for this guy to be making big moves in 2009!

His new dubstep track “I Say You Say (I Need You)” is currently featured on the 2009 Dubslingers Promo Mix (mixed by SubHuman).

Also, here is a drum and bass remix he produced:  Alborosie – Kingston Town (Evidence DnB Remix)

Frankie Gunns Live @ Thymeless (Jan.20/09)

lion-of-judah-dj

Frankie Gunns has been a staple in the Toronto Drum and Bass community for well over a decade now.   Few people in the city can rival the selection of vinyl that this man has at his disposal.  As a long time manager of Play De Record (a legendary Toronto record shop) he has an infinite supply of vinyl at his fingertips.  Last week the Dubslingers crew had him roll through Thymeless for an exlusive reggae set.  Gunns brought the heat with his little box of rare 45’s and had the crowd vibing to some sweet classic reggae mixed with a few recent hits.
