Norwegian electronic dance/Nu-disco producer diskJokke has put so much god damn funk in my shoes over the past 24 hours that my kicks need a thorough wash. I first heard of this cat Thursday afternoon, while driving in my fathers car–which by the way, has a filthy banger of a sound system in it. Me and my boy Bravo had the satellite radio cranked when “Folk I Farta” came on, a funky and level beat with pianos, clapping and all sorts of other amazing sound bits that work you into a state of aural bliss. Bravo and I kept our heads swaying like mango trees in a a South American breeze for the entire length of the song. Folk I Farta was followed by “Interpolation“, a wonderful song that has a space-like feel to it, yet does not leave you dancing (or dead) like an actual spaced-out cosmonaut. We immediately wrote down the name of the producer and we have since listened to every single original mix and remix that we have been able to get our hands on. One particular remix that gets me grooving is diskJokke’s take on Metronomy’s own “Heartbreaker“. Despite being slightly dated, the majority of the songs on 2007’s “Staying In”–as well as most of the tracks on the 2010 remix compilation “Discolated Remixes 2007-2009“—are worth giving a good rinse-and-hang because after all, these beauties are so quality that they deserve to be worn out. No Fabric softener required.
