Dun kno tha dun kno, It’s a UKC ting. A fresh new track from Freeza Chin, Plain English and Riddimz or together as The UKC. These guys are making big moves bringing the Grime and UK Funky to Toronto at a blistering pace. Every Wednesday from 10pm-Midnight these cats bring the heat on Fusion Radio and more recently have grown the “Toronto Funky” monthly jam into one of Toronto’s most talked about parties. We had these guys out at our Major Rager party series a couple months back and they slaughtered the dance. A fast-paced, high-energy set had the crowd skanking harrrrrd. Straight up sweaty rave vibes. It was so sick that we almost simultaneously booked them for round 2 which will go down on Sat. July 3rd inside The Augusta House. In the meantime, you can catch them at the Breakage party May 20th @ Wrongbar and the next Toronto Funky is set for May 21st @ Toika Lounge.

The first Saturday of the month is once again before us, which means that it is time for Toronto’s party animals and beat freaks to prepare their hottest clothes and best dance moves for the 7th installment of the poppin’ MAJOR RAGER party series. The Major Rager Crew has put forth a real greasy line-up of local selectahs including Rager resident’s Billionaire, O-God and Ballistik, all of which have been known to get the dance floor shaking with bass-heavy heaters. The headlining act of the night will be the real treat however, as the crew has brought in party-slammers UKC, or the UK Connection, which consists of DJ Freeza Chin and MC’s Plain English & Riddimz. I have personally seen these guys get dance floors sweatier than soccer locker rooms after championship games, and they are known in Toronto for their high energy sets which evoke nothing but the stankiest of skankin’ among party goers. For more information on this month’s Rager, check out the facebook event here.
Check out some of what to expect from our boys @ UKC:

Freeza Chin and Plain English just sent over the second installment of their Toronto Funky mixtape series. With 31 heaters of pure funky rhythm and bass and a track list sweatier than Betty’s tits, this one is not to be missed. In fact, we liked the last Toronto Funky mix / event so much that we just had to invite the duo out to play at the March 6th installment of our monthly Major Rager co-op. If you can’t wait that long (which you shouldn’t), be sure to check the next installment of their very own monthly at Toi Bar next Friday, February 26th.

In preparation for the second installment of their newly championed monthly at Toi Bar in Toronto, the Toronto Funky (Facebook | MySpace) crew (Freeza Chin, Plain English and Marcus Visionary) put together a mix of some of the freshest funky heaters both old and new. To my knowledge this is the only night in the city dedicated to funky, so if you want to get your skank on be sure to reach their next jam on December 18th. I’m sad I missed the first one. This mix has been burned and cranked in the car for days now.

If you’re wanting more where this came from, be sure to check out Freeza’s weekly show on Fusion Radio Wednesday night’s from 10-12.
Bonus: As a little extra, a wicked MJ Cole tune I was feeling all summer that Freeza dropped in the mix. Garage don Zed Bias just kills it on the remix here, sprucing things up just right with an unsuspecting intro, some mega-lazer build-ups and a low riding funk riddim that all sit beautifully under Serocee’s flow.
